This time of year can feel a little overwhelming for me. I start getting excited for the warm weather and the busy season ahead. I start breaking out of my winter cocoon and stepping out from behind the computer for more photo sessions and wedding days in the warm sun!! Sometimes I need a quick reminder to stop and smell the lilies!
I got these gorgeous stargazer lilies fresh cut and in the mail from The Bouqs!! with just a few easy clicks I was able to order a full bouquet and vase for these gorgeous flowers and they arrived right at my door! Its the easiest and simplest way to have fresh flowers all the time (with v minimal effort!)
The Bouqs are partnered with flower farms in California who cut the flowers the day they are ordered and ship directly to me, because we all know I kill plants and I need those guys fresh as they can get!!The farms practice sustainable, eco-friendly farming and thats what I'm talkin about!
If you want a bouquet of fresh flowers right to your door you can save 25% on your farm-fresh flowers from The Bouqs if you head through this link -> goo.gl/GzRmiv and use my promo code: hrtbte77d7c and make sure to send me some photos of your gorgeous flowers!!!
I jetted off to Colorado for a few days and was so very lucky to get up to Fort Collins to photograph this sweet couple in their cozy lil home to help them announce their big news!
Jacee + Jase got married last year (and had the most beautiful day, that was actually he first day I met Jacee!) and are now expecting a sweet lil babe later this year!
These two share this home together and it was so great to capture their love and excitement for their lil bun on its way!
Biggie + Louis the pups joined us for a few last shots to capture the whole family! Biggie was convinced my camera held treats and Louis was a perfect gentleman the whole time! I love photographing puppers during in-home sessions because they get to be themselves, and who doesn't need more photos of their doggos!?
Thank you Jacee + Jase for welcoming me into your sweet little home to capture this special time!
I want to let you in on something... a lil secret I keep. Wedding planning is STRESSFUL. oh wait you knew that!?! same, and I'm not even planning a wedding, I just see my brides all through the year really struggling with things they hoped would be fun! Getting announcements made, the invitations, dealing with family, and budgets.. oh those budgets!
I don't think I have heard once couple tell me they stayed within their budget. And I think this is because of two things! 1- they didn't know how to budget correctly and 2-were unaware of a ton of the aspects that go into wedding planning. Both of those stress me out (and I'm not even planning it!)
So, I see it! I see the struggle, and I truly want to help! I am a part of the behind the scenes. I talk to the wedding planners, the venue coordinators, the caterers, all before the big day and we all work together to make it special just for you! But, what we don't share, are all the tips and tricks we have learned from being a part of countless weddings.
I want to share it all!! I am working on building a master list of tips and tricks, all from the wedding industry professionals to help your planning go smoothly, without shelling out major moolah!
Before I share it all, I need your help! I need to know what is the most difficult for you right now as you plan your big day. Or what was the hardest if you have already planned and would love to hear your tips for future brides!
click below to fill out the questionnaire to help me get a peek into the real struggles of wedding planning, so I can hopefully help!
And make sure to drop your email so I can send you all the info when it arrives!!

sorry but the ski aspen tee is something I have been talking about for weeks! I shared this on instagram about 29 different times and had you all vote on it a ton and ended up adding it to the collection (it actually might have been the starting point, with the retro vibes and mustard and brick colors I stuck to that side of the color wheel for this whole collection!)

oh boy. y'all, I don't even know where to begin with this day. from the moments in the hotel room with white robes and champagne to the hours spent on the dance floor, there just wasn't even one moment that wasn't flawless.
this is Bre. the bride, and seriously most gorgeous human on the planet (are you looking at her?) yea, gorgeous. who knew I would get to put such beautiful humans in front of my camera for a living (definitely not me) but I am pretty dang happy I do
Bre had the most perfect dress. It fit her like a glove and showed off her muscles and femininity in every way. I was blown away by Bre and her entire bridal part y as they zipped up dresses and pinned up their curls (they were a pretty freaking cute party if I say so myself)
I stole Bre away just before she walked down the aisle (thank goodness!!!!!) and captured her last moments as a single woman (sorry fellas, not to ruin the rest of this post but she made it down the aisle and is now off the market!!)
okay so Brandon wiped away tears as Bre walked down the aisle with her father and tears ROLLED down my cheeks. These two, I don't know how I made it through their entire ceremony without going through a whole box of tissues because dang were the vows, the kiss and just the way they looked at each other seriously got to me
what a gosh dang friggen flawless ceremony. there was this moment where I think everyone realized these two amazing humans were now one and it was ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS.
so, if you couldn't tell my their muscles, Bre + Brandon own a gym in Loveland (and use it obviously) and I think that right there is a reason why this bridal party was so gosh dang good looking!! (birds of a feather flock together amirite!?)
so, after the ceremony, after the bridal party and family photos, after all the exciting moments I stole Bre + Brandon away and told them to soak it all in (the whole married thing, as well as the gorgeous sun behind them)
I actually couldn't handle these two. like at ALL. LOOK AT THEM!! look!! it was too much to handle but I couldn't stop clickin! hugs and snuggles and kisses and laughs filled the whole 30 minutes we had together at sunset for their couples shots and urg it couldn't have gone better.
congrats Bre + Brandon on the wedding part but more importantly congrats on being the actual couple #goals everyone is always talking about!!! I adore you both so very much and am so beyong grateful to have captured this seriously perfect day!!
My goodness. What a bitter sweet day in every way! This super stinking sweet couple and their gorgeous day was the last wedding of 2017. It was so wonderful to finish out the year with these two!! What a perfect day it turned out to be!
We drove up through the windy roads up to the beautiful barn where the ceremony and reception were held. With fields of grass and a perfect sunset behind them Alex + Amanda tied the knot
Alex + Amanda met in high school and continued on to attend the University of Colorado Boulder together and along with their sweet pup have a life full of adventure together and everything they love, including each other, was so clear in every detail of their day!
Alex + Amanda had so so many people with them to celebrate their love, with a big bridal party, all the members of their families and all their friends came to ring in their new marriage
Stealing Alex + Amanda away for a few moments just as the sun went down was by far the best move we made, these two cuddled (it was FREEZING) and strolled through the tall grass and shared lots of kisses!! Although the sun warmed us all for a bit we headed inside the barn for the rest of the chilly night!
What a sweet sweet day this wedding turned out to be!! Lots of hot cocoa, dancing, and cake eating rounded out this amazing day and I am so very happy they chose mini bundt cakes for the guests (and me!)
I honestly could not have dreamed up a more perfect wedding to finish up 2017!!! Thank you thank you Alex + Amanda for finishing up 2017 so well and for choosing us to capture your perfect day!!
friends, it's been a long year. I went from full time college student and side hustler photographer to a full time, everyday editor, wedding photographer and it would not have been possible without this amazing couple and this beyond gorgeous day they shared. Bethany + Billy are the dream client, I would photograph their wedding a hundred more times if I could!
These two spent the morning getting ready with their bridal parties, cheering glasses and shedding just a few tears before walking down the aisle. The venue was beyond gorgeous, but not as gorgeous as the bride. Bethany as one of those brides that you just keep looking at and saying "jeez gir" because dang, she was flawless.
Bethany + Billy were a dream. They put so much time into their wedding and every detail was so very special to them, it was so easy to see all the love they share with each other and their family + friends throughout the entire day.
Their ceremony was special and full of love, and clearly beautiful (one of those weddings you can't really help but cry at)
We pulled Bethany + Billy away right after the ceremony just at sunset to capture all the love they share, and boy was 30 minutes with them not enough, I could photograph this couple all day if you asked me to. (My favorite part was seeing how sweetly Billy would kiss Bethany's forehead, man their love is sweet.)
See, I told ya, greatest couple ever right??
So, lemme tell ya about this bridal party. Have you ever been coerced to the bars after a wedding? Yea, sure that's a normal thing for a guest but not for me after 10 hour weddings, but they tried!! They definitely tried (but don't ask them I'm not sure they'd remember) They were definitely one of the most fun bridal parties I have seen, and the best part was that they kept all the other guests on the dance floor all night, which makes my job so easy and way too much fun to call a "job" for sure
So, we headed into the reception and I had heard about this scooter they were given as a wedding gift, but of course they ride in for their first introduction as husband and wife on a scooter (go check out Bethany's insta shes got a pretty great boomerang of it too) If I didn't already know that this was the best couple ever, I knew it as they rode on on this bad boy for sure!
I honestly couldn't handle these two and their first dance. Ed Sheeran through the speakers and I was in tears of course. It was so beyond sweet and with their families and friends watching over them it was just one of the sweetest moments.
We zipped off towards Pear Street Boulder for a few last shots, we couldn't let that opportunity to capture Bethany + Billy in a place they call home (and let everyone and their mama stop for a photo with the bride and groom)
What an oh so perfect day in every way. Thank you thank you thank you Bethany + Billy for choosing me to capture the special love you two share. Im so very grateful for clients like you guys and totally still in wedding hangover from your perfect day!!
My goodness. This day. This couple. This wedding. It was so very special in so many ways! Each little detail truly showed Taylor + Logan and the love they share. This wedding was perfectly perfect for them in every way!
Taylor + Logan spent the day getting ready in the bride and groom suites at Ellis Ranch in Loveland with their best friends by their sides.
Taylor + Logan stepped out ready for their first look. The first moment a bride and groom get to see each other on their wedding day is incredibly special, and Taylor + Logans moment was nothing but perfect.
The ceremony was intimate and sweet. Taylor + Logan shared vows and placed rings on each others fingers while their family and friends wiped away tears (including myself, sorry I cry at every wedding)
Taylor + Logans bridal party was for sure the craziest I have met, and I mean the good kind of crazy! From friends they met in college and sorority sisters, it was the perfect group for Taylor + Logan to ring in their new life with!
I loved all the details of this day. Ellis Ranch in Loveland was the perfect location for such a sweet wedding. The sun set with a perfect glow and the red rocks behind the reception patio was perfect for the couple and party to sneak away before dancing the night way.
Taylor was beyond gorgeous. Her dress was perfect on her and she was just glowing in every way. The love Logan and Taylor share was so clear when we pulled them away for some sunset shots, I loved being a part of this sweet couples day.
Perfect florals made this day even better. The Fresh Flower market created a surprise bouquet for Taylor based on her colors and they couldn't have done better. Sweet succulents and jewel tones that matched the day in every way.
So beyond grateful to have captured such a gorgeous wedding and love. Taylor + Logan moved to Texas right after their wedding and I am so glad they got to tie the knot in Colorado before heading of for their life together.
I have cried at every father daughter dance I have watched, I cried watching Taylor and her father dance and I will cry at every other one I see forever and ever. It's just a special moment during a wedding reception that I really love to capture. So sweet in every way and one of my absolute favorite moments.
Such a sweet couple, such a sweet day. Thank you Taylor + Logan for sharing your day with us and we are so very grateful to have captured the love you two share!

Emily + Andrews wedding at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science was one of the most industrial and modern weddings I have ever photographed! Set in the modern event hall facing a gorgeous view of downtown Denver Emily got ready overlooking the reception hall being set up below. Andrew showed up with his crew of guys and it was so very nice to spend the day with a couple who were more excited to tie the knot than ever!
Emily was such a gorgeous bride, she spent her morning with her ladies getting pampered
Emily + Andrews wedding ceremony was so very special. Overlooking an incredible view of Denver with a perfect sunset falling behind them. They tied the knot and even locked a bottle of wine in a box to open in the future.
Connon the dog was the ring bearer for the ceremony (and I don't think I have ever seen a cuter ring bearer!)
We pulled Emily + Andrew outside just as the sun left and captured the sweet moments they shared together just after becoming husband and wife, and it was so very sweet
I loved this sweet wedding, it was so very fun to capture Emily + Andrews love and in this wonderful place!
As I drove home from my final meeting with Alex + Amanda after talking about all the details for their big day it was so bittersweet. I was so excited for their big day, but it was the last one of the year for me!! They shared sweet vows at a gorgeous venue down in the mountains of Woodland Park (yes it was freezing but it was sooo worth it!)
All the little details perfectly displayed the love Amanda + Alex share. Photos of their adventures with their doggies were all over the walls and talk of all the memories they've shared filled the room.
We pulled Alex + Amanda out at sunset to capture shot snuggly shots in the golden light and boy was it chilly but oh so worth it!
I just love love loved every bit of this wedding!! It felt so special to Amanda + Alex and it was so nice to spend my last 2017 wedding with such a sweet couple!!
Thank you thank you thank you Amanda + Alex!! I can't wait to show you even more from your beautiful day!!
lemme tell ya, this was one of the toughest sessions I have ever edited because OH MY GOODNESS look at her!! I couldn't narrow these images down at allll!!
I love love loved every moment of shooting with gorgeous Annie. She is in her senior year at college and is absolutely killing it in every way, I mean look at her..
We roamed all around our favorite spots throughout downtown Greeley. It was so fun to go back to my college town and run around doing what I love with this lil cutie!!
We found TONS of fun spots all throughout town!
Then we headed down to this gorgeous park soaked in all the last moments of sun (this was definitely one of the last warm days of fall!!!)
I absolutely looooved every bit of shooting with this super sweet and flawless lady!!!
Honestly, there aren't many words I can put together to explain how perfect this day was. Bre is one of the most important people to me, she has been my biggest fan in everything I do. She has taken care of me through every step of college and beyond and I am so grateful to have captured her incredible day!!!
I photographed this wedding without my right hand, my mama. It was incredibly scary but it felt really good to know I am capable of handling an entire wedding all on my own!! I am so grateful for how much my mama has taught me and all her help through my journey with photography and I really wouldn't be who I am today without her. Bre + Brandon's day was the perfect day to step out on my own with my second shooter Markie and make some magic!!!
One of my favorite parts of this wedding was that every detail was thought out, but it didn't feel overdone at all. Bre + Brandon share a sweet love that was so clear throughout the entire day, the warm colors and sweet touches were just perfect.
The sun peeked through the trees as Bre + Brandon shared their vows and wiped away tears, and I can bet you I was not the only one crying in the crowd! It was so beautiful - soft light over the entire ceremony and the weather was so so perfect!!
I LOVED capturing this love. There really isn't a way to explain how dang sweet these two are, Brandon is so in love with Bre and it's so obvious in every way... I was like "UGH, THEY'RE SO CUTE" in my head all night.
I was lucky enough to know almost everyone in the bridal party, sorority sisters of mine who I have spent years and many memories and laughs with so it was pretty easy to have a lot of fun with them (oh, and they're all gosh dang GORGEOUS?!?!)
So, right after the ceremony and family photos we stole Bre + Brandon away, I reminded them that hey, you just got married! enjoy this for a moment (and also snuck some shots of them snugglin')
Have you ever seen a more gorgeous bride in your life ever!?!?!?! And, have you ever seen a more handsome groom!?!?! AND, have you ever seen two adorable love birds being so dang adorable before in your life!?!? Because, this right here was like WOW, thank you both for being you, this is all I could ever dream of.
I think we had about 20 minutes together before the grand entrance into the reception, and I have never begged for more time like I did with these two! Wherever they walked, I shot, like I couldn't let them just leave after looking like that!!
First dances, cake cutting, and toasts (and a super yummy dinner) came and went and a night of dancing and wine continued until this stinking cute couple walked out the front door as Mr. and Mrs. Gachne (and I cried probably three maybe four more times)
There aren't enough thank you's in the world for me to give this couple, I couldn't have created a more perfect day or asked for a more gorgeous couple to photograph!!! I love them so so much and I am so beyond happy for the life they get to share together!
I headed back to good ol' Greeley, CO for Jacobs senior session, and boy was it worth it!!! We had to reschedule because of all kinds of rain storms so I am so so glad we made his session happen!!
Jacob told me all about his girlfriend and hwo great being a senior in high school is (man, I felt old)
Jacob kept it simple, white and black tees with his letter jacket - a look that is cool through every decade. This kid definitely practiced his looks in front of the mirror the night before our session because he knew what he was doing!!
I am so so glad I made it back for Jacobs senior session, heres to the 2018 seniors!!
Just a quick warning.. this blog is about to be a bit long, this couple stole my heart wayyy before I even knew it. Lexi is a friend of Grayson's from high school, I met her throughout the first year or so of dating Gray and loved her the minute I met her. She has an infectious laugh and a joke for every situation, and thats my kinda girl.
Lexi found a good one, they met in high school math class, he fell for her the second her heard about her Justin Bieber obsession (who wouldn't?) and it grew from there, but honestly I have never seen a love like theirs. It is just so incredibly clear how much these two care for each other. The small gifts and meaningful moments they shared throughout the day make it so obvious.
Lexi was beyond stunning, her girls helped her primp and pamper all morning, sipping mimosas and jamming to the Biebs (duh)! Her girls were adorable, setting up her bridal suite and helping her with makeup, and shedding many tears
The moments before the ceremony were full of excitement, I could feel it in the air how ready everyone in attendance was to see these two get married!
The boys were anxious and ready to walk down the aisle (clearly) and prepared with a quick tequila shot to calm the nerves
YALL the tears fell the second she walked out those doors. Keanu barely held it together and Lexi was in pieces, but thats what made this day so magical. So so so much love was shared in this ceremony, and even when the rain started falling it was all smiles and tears
Everyone was SO excited for this day, made me so happy to see so many tears and smiles all at once - right as the ceremony ended everyone dried off and we went back out for some bridal party and couples shots, the sun was shining and these two just snuggled up to stay warm (and I loved every bit)
a wedding first for me: every table had a cake I REPEAT EVERY TABLE had its own CAKE!!!! (which meant there was TONS left for me!) Thank you guys for that! They shared the sweetest first dance and cut their cake and partied all night long.
It ended up being over 12 hours with this couple and although my feet were tired, my heart was so so full and I am so beyond grateful to have shared this day and captured every loving moment! Thank you Lexi + Keanu for sharing your wedding and showing me all the love you two share!
For even MORE, check out Lexi + Keanus entire wedding gallery!!
This wedding was EVERYTHING - amazing couple, amazing venue, the rad little house they got ready in before the ceremony has AMAZING natural light and the coolest art on the walls, a room perfect for Leslie to get her dress on, ugh my goodness
I just cannot talk about how grateful we were from the second we walked in.. Leslie and Seth planned out every detail but the best part is that the air throughout the whole day was so calm and full of love. There was no stress or worry over getting somewhere on time or missing something. Leslie was an incredible bride to work with in every way, calm and just so dang excited to marry such a good man, and thats all I can ask from my brides - she KILLED it
The ceremony was set right outside of a big red barn in Windsor (Highland Meadows Golf Course)- just off a golf course with a gorgeous sun setting behind. Every bit of the ceremony showed the love Leslie + Seth share, the way he looked at her walking down the aisle and the way they wiped away tears from their eyes during their vows.. it was amazing.
The first moment I started crying: when they placed the rings on each others fingers, I have never seen someone so excited to have someone put a ring on it!
Another amazing thing about this couple - they were so freaking adorable and all over each other that I basically just stalked them through the night and got some great shots, they just snuggled and kissed all day and UGH I loved it.
They brought all the goodies, fresh apple pie, cake pops, and a gorgeous wedding cake were on the dessert table (the area I generally hovered by for yummy smells most of the night)
The wedding party and guests boogied all night to oldies with the awesome DJ from Trebled Entertainment
the barn doors opened and everyone could walk around to the bar and hang outside (the weather was BEYOND perfect)
We pulled them away for a few shots at sunset as well, and boy was that worth it!!
It was just ALL soooo amazing in so many ways, I am so grateful to have photographed this amazing couple and gorgeous wedding - thank you Leslie + Seth!!!
For even MORE of these two, check out their entire gallery from the big day here

What is a Mini Session?
A mini session is a shortened version of a regular family portrait photography session, without all the bells and whistles. Basically it allows us to get a few great family shots of your entire clan and then spend a little time getting breakout shots of just the kids, a few individual shots and perhaps a few candid’s. It is ideal for families who simply want some updated family shots for their Facebook, or frames. With mini sessions, there simply is not enough time to capture a great deal of emotional images inside of 30 minutes – you really need a full hour plus that. Mini sessions move quickly so it’s imperative you arrive a few minutes early (5-10) so that you and your family are ready to go.
How much are Mini Family Sessions?
Mini Family Sessions are $200 for 30 minutes of shoot time, you will receive 6 fully edited and full resolution digital files in a personal online gallery where you can easily purchase prints and products or download the images and take to your local printer!
How do I book a session?
All sessions are booked first come, first serve! Please select your desired date and time through the link above and email me if you have any questions at all, I will send over a confirmation email after you chose a date and time! Please note that mini sessions book very quickly. It is the busiest time of the year for photographers, where it is peak wedding season, so you may want to consider booking a date as soon as possible!
What is the max number of people we can have for a Mini Session?
You can have up to 5 people max. If you have 6 or more people, please book 2 Mini Sessions to accommodate for time.
Will you provide props for our shoot, or can we bring them?
For outdoor mini sessions I likely won’t be able to provide any large props other than my set-up shot for all the sessions for the day, any other props you would like to incorporate you are welcome to bring! Keep in mind, with only 30 minutes it can be difficult to check everything on the list, but I will do everything to make it happen!
We want to book, but can’t make ANY of the above dates and times work. Are you available on other dates not available?
I have limited availability through fall due to wedding season being in full swing, but I would love to get you and your family in front of the camera, so please send me an email and we can see what can work!
I have more questions. How should I reach you?
Just email me at email@example.com and I’ll be happy to answer your questions as quickly as possible!
PLACING A RETAINER
A non-refundable 10% retainer is due at booking to hold your time slot. A separate invoice will be billed two (2) days before your session. This must be paid in full by the time of the session for the session to take place! But of course, you are welcome to pay session fee in full at any time before session!
Julia Grooms is a Colorado based engagement, elopement and wedding photographer specializing in authentic, intimate photography for adventurous couples who are wildly in love. Based in Denver, CO + Lincoln, NE, travels often.
It started with the adventure book that Bethany created for Billy, the first thing he would see as he walked into his groom suite the day of their wedding. That moment was the moment I truly knew this wedding was going to be everything a photographer could dream of.
I mean, I knew from all the coffee dates I shared with Bethany + Billy talking about every detail they had planned for the day, I knew already I was going to love their wedding, but what I didn't know is that I would cry MANY times.. from when Billy saw her walk down the aisle to when they had their first dance.
But honestly I couldn't have planned the day any better than they did. The venue at Wedgewood at Boulder Creek took care of every detail. From the perfect rooms for everyone to get ready, a gorgeous altar and ceremony space to the covered reception hall with farm tables and the dance hall indoors - it was all flawless.
AND THIS BRIDAL PARTY. We felt so appreciated all night, there wasn't a moment that went by without someone in the bridal party reminding us that they noticed how hard we were working (thanks guys!!)
They also had some STELLAR moves on the dance floor (watch out guys, those photos might not be in the sneak peek but they definitely exist!!)
Every moment was incredibly picturesque - the menu on the tables, the flowers, all the laughs and tears shed throughout the night - every moment was perfect.
If there are any sayings out there that go something like "perfect wedding equals perfect marriage" well, I would agree - I can't get photos like this without the love a couple shares and my golly was it so stinking easy to capture it with these two.
Thank you thank you thank you a million times THANK YOU to Bethany + Billy for everything. For choosing me as your photographer months ago to capture every perfect detail of your amazing day, I am incredibly grateful in every way!
I promise there are SO many more photos from this amazing day coming soon!
My goodness, Emily + Andrew know how to have a wedding!!! They had their bash at the Denver Museum of Natural History and it was soo dang cool!!! I am so used to barns and twinkly lights (which I LOVE) but it was nice to capture something totally different!!
We got so very lucky with this venue, the inside was futuristic and fun, but we got the natural feel just right out the front doors!
These are just a few of my very favorite photos from the fabulous day!! More to come!!
What a perfect day Taylor + Logans wedding turned out to be!!! We were gifted the most gorgeous light just after the ceremony and I was so so excited to get some shot of Taylor + Logan together as newlyweds!
Every little detail was thought out for this wedding, from Taylors bouquet to the cake, it was simple and elegant in every way!
The reception was a patio area connected to the ceremony area, lights were strung from the rooftops and the DJ li up the dancefloor all night to classic jams (which I may or may not have danced to all night)
This is just a teeny sneak peek from the gorgeous day and I will have so many more available soon!

I will be forever grateful for my mom and her work friends, it always leads to amazing weddings, gorgeous brides, and really really amazing nights!! This group was no different, my mama met Leslie through work and I am so so thankful she chose us to photograph her oh so perfect wedding day with Seth!
When I say no detail was missed, I really mean it. From the barrels holding up the cake and dessert table to the gorgeous alter that Leslie and Seth stood under, it was all flawless (I wanted to mentally pin so many things to my Pinterest boards!)
So, a secret I usually don't share (but I'll let you in on it) I love, I mean LOVE getting detail shots during a ceremony, I love hiding behind the groomsmen and sneaking a shot of the groom wipe a tear from the brides face. There just isn't anything better and I apologize in advance if you get a glimpse of me sneaking around but I PROMISE its so so worth it in the end!
SEE WHAT I MEAN!!!
So there was this giant and gorgeous tree smack dab in the middle of the green grass just across from the ceremony location, and the venue director snagged Leslie and Seth and took us all off to the tree just moments after the ceremony and THANK GOODNESS because I could see the glow radiating off these two who just tied the knot and boy oh boy was this spot EVERYTHING.
Leslie was not your average bride, she wore a two piece dress. Lace top and draped light pink skirt and UGH I adored every bit, and she rocked her ring so perfectly, it was just flawless.
Honestly, I wanted to cry after this wedding. Everything was absolutely AMAZING and I am so so grateful to have shared the day with my mom, Markie and this bride and groom!!
My goodness gracious...... prepare yourself, my best friend from high school and her incredible beau are about to blowwwww you away!! Oh lawddyyyyy these two were the absolute sweetest and I am so so glad I was able to capture their perfect day!!!
What a gorgeous day it was, the weather was flawless and so were Abby + Byron (they are sooo in love it's amazing)
I have been watching the love between Abby + Byron grow since they met each other in high school, and I was so incredibly grateful to have captured the special day when they officially tied the knot to spend their lives together
Would you look at these two!?!?! How lucky am I to have had them in front of my camera!
So for this wedding I did something very new, photographing AND being a bridesmaid (it's tough!!!) but so so fun!!! I got to jump in the group shots, which is so very weird but thank goodness for my mama who helped and for my lovely second shooter Markie, the two who truly make it all happen!!
Being a bride can be tough, and being a bride planning your wedding can be uber tough, but you don't have to do it alone!!
As a photographer, I realize the day is about YOU, the bride!!! I follow my brides around on wedding days like a new little puppy - during hair and makeup, getting on your dress, and toasting champagne with your girls (I run over to the guys room for a minute but they have just about two things to do for getting ready!)
So, I have met many DJs, wedding planners, venue event coordinators, and even parents who want to control the day, and that's always helpful! But, if photography is important to you, as a bride, you have to make sure there is time for it! I will always capture behind the scenes of the day, every detail and moment will be captured!
The one thing many brides forget is to allot time after the ceremony for their photographer - after the family formal photos are done, after you hug everyone who sneaks to the portrait area, I need to pull you and your groom away for as much time as possible for those images you have always dreamt of!
I know you aren't spending all that time getting ready before the ceremony to have it forgotten! Everyone at the wedding knows you are going to look so incredibly beautiful, but I want to capture shots of you and your groom together, I want to pull you both away for an intimate moment together where you get to breathe and relish in being married! you deserve it!!
So, here's the perfect layout for the perfect day! Whether you choose to have a first look with your beau or not, there is a perfect timeline for both!
Again, this is my recommendation for my brides, and I hope it helps you in your wedding planning! Whether I am your photographer, or your photographer is new to the business, or you are a new wedding photographer just trying to learn the ropes, this is what many many weddings (and crazy days) have taught me!!
Remember, your wedding is going to be perfect, whether it's sunny or rainy, it's your special day and nobody can take that from you! Follow your heart and make it perfect for you!

I know I say it everytime, but I LOVE that my best pal Catherine is so photogenic!!! The best part is, she always has the cutest new outfits and accessories to make our sessions perfect!!
We tried something new and focused on all the small little details so Catherine could build up her content folder of images to show off a big new moment in her life! Catherine just started a job at Colorado Realty and I am SO PROUD of her for following her dreams!! (check her out on Instagram to get all the details of her new job! @c.smaldone)
I loved spending the perfect summer evening with Cath all around downtown Boulder, I love getting my lovely friends in front of the camera and trying new things!!!
Of course we couldn't part ways without stopping for a margarita and quesadillas on Pearl Street ;)
