The semester is starting off quickly, and the stress of Junior year is really beginning to weigh on my shoulders. A weekend getaway is exactly what Grayson and I have been needing after heading into our toughest semesters in college. Luckily his family makes a trip up to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln for the homecoming football game every year! The seven hour drive is just close enough to make a weekend of it! Graysons family including his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins all make it out every year to enjoy family time and football at a school they've supported for years and I am so glad to have been invited this year and even more happy to have an entire weekend free to spend with them!! We drove up Friday afternoon and ended up getting into town so late that everyone went to bed to get some beauty sleep for the next days festivities. An early morning and a few hotel muffins later we had our Nebraska gear and were headed to Memorial Stadium. The place was crowded and HUGE, my first steps inside I was incredibly overwhelmed - I love sports and have seen my fair share of stadiums but nothing compares to Nebraska and its fans. Balloons were let go in honor of the first touchdown and it might have been the coolest thing I have ever seen - for real. Nebraska beat Southern Miss 36-28, it was a beautiful day an a great game and I was so happy to be there! We had yummy dinner at Laskos - home of the lavash… something I did not end up trying but Grayson is a huge fan! We headed back home the next morning after hotel coffee and waffles, it was an amazing trip and I couldn't be happier to have spent time with Gray and his family!
So grateful for the boyfriend and his wonderful family - and the Huskers :-)
